SThe Seriously Good Landscapes team have been at it once again. This time working in Ivybridge in the South Hams near Plymouth in Devon, the client had become increasingly frustrated with the state of their lawn after many attempts to rejuvenate the area which had been badly affected from over treating. With the green space being slightly sloped, they also wanted the garden levelled with two separate areas to be able to enjoy. This involved using reclaimed sleepers to retain the newly levelled areas, as well as creating some central sleeper / paving stone steps to give good access to both both upper and lower areas. The design also had to incorporate a central walk way which not only allowed access from the driveway, but would allow the client the ability to gain access from their shed to the top section of the garden for their lawn mower etc. Initially, and in line with the client's specification, the proposed garden design was to be segregated with new turfing in the upper area and stone chippings in the lower section. After further deliberation on site however, it was agreed that the area would be better suited and more symmetrical with two turfed areas separated by a walk way covered with stone chippings. Transformed in only four days with the help of a mini digger, plenty of hard graft and keeping to a tight budget, the Seriously Good Landscapes team and the client were extremely happy with the end results, turning their once a neighbourhood showcase garden into an area they could again be very proud of.

Another Seriously Good Landscaping but this time working on instinct rather than by a garden design plan. The client had recently bought a block of flats that needed some serious works, inside and out. They had a tight budget to work to hence why they wanted to save on a plan. Seriously Good Landscapes were called in to create a big impact. We first had the Tree Works team in hit the trees that had been left to run wild for about 2 decades; reducing, making them safe and improving the great view into Newton Abbot Town. Once that was done, we punched a hole through the wall to get the mini digger through as this was the only form of access. Once the mini digger had finished the hard landscaping and leveling, we started work on the step construction into the garden. We used reclaimed slabs and bricks for the steps and reclaimed sleepers as retainers down each side. Because the site was so steep and difficult to work with we decided to build a vertical sleeper retaining wall that was tensioned into the bank to avoid subsidence. The clients wanted a natural woodland themed garden so we were able to recreate natural curves postioning the sleepers vertically. Finally the slopes was de-weeded and terram membrane laid until they could do the planting. We hope to get some pictures of the finished article soon.
